Beagle Outdoor Wear Written by Richard Mann Archery shops and most hunters
will likely tell you that your bow is the most important part of There are a host of quality products out there to keep hunters warm and dry and I have tried many of them. Recently I made a discovery I am quite proud of. There is a new company located in Vermont that was started by Steve Jones in 1999 called BEAGLE OUTDOOR WEAR. Beagle products are in their own words "the next generation of wool". They offer a full line of clothing for the hunter or outdoorsman several of which I have had the opportunity to use as recent as last month. First let me explain how BEAGLE WEAR is made. For an outer layer they use a unique blend of 80% wool and 20 % nylon (blaze orange is 100 % wool) treated with Dupont Teflon. The inside is lined with a smooth to the touch Trevira Microtherm, 100% polyester, liner that slips on easily over any under garments you may choose to wear. On their Stalker and Extreme series, laminated between the wool and Microtherm is a layer of water and windproof Fabtex 5X. This additional feature provides the ultimate protection from the elements. Most all of their items are offered in a selection of solid and plaid colors as well as Mossy Oak Break Up. Here is a detailed look at several of the items I have been using: PANTS - ordered to my
size they fit perfect with plenty of room for an under layer of fleece
and free movement. 26-inch side zippers make easy on and off without boot
removal and the belt loops will accept up to a 1 and ¾ inch belt.
I hate skinny belts. JACKET - I purchased the Tracker series to use as general-purpose hunting and outdoor coat. I especially liked the four front roomy pockets and snap shoulder tabs that work great for securing rifle straps, call lanyards, and binocular straps. The Stalker and Extreme versions in addition to the Fabtex lamination have a dual entry game pouch with zipper access.
FLAP HAT - The Beagle crusher flap hat has become my new favorite hunting hat. Wind and waterproof with flaps to keep the cold off my ears I used it exclusively during a week of bowhunting. You can bet a blaze orange version will be on my top come gun season. HANDWARMER - No more fluffy bread loaf size handwarmers or bulky gloves for me. The Beagle handwarmer is compact and exceptionally warm. It even has a neat little zipper access accessory pocket. This may be my favorite item they offer. All of these items helped me score on an early season whitetail this October. In 40-degree temperature with a howling wind I set comfortably perched in my tree. The whitetail doe took my recurve launched cedar arrow at 7 steps. The Beagle wear wool allowed silent movement and the Mossy Oak camo pattern obviously provided adequate concealment. I am sold on the
Beagle line of outdoor wear and expect they will become my primary hunting
clothes outfitter. Every one that I showed their brochure and products
to wanted something. Their prices are reasonable, their product is well
made, and best of all it comes with a 100% guarantee. And that's the way
I like to spend my money. No more days a field looking like an overstuffed
marshmallow man for me, you can bet if you find me a field Beagle will
be on my back. Visit their website, check out what they have to offer
and place your order because I'm not giving mine away. BEAGLE Outdoor
