August 7, 2001 Minnesota spot #3 West of Pine City(private land)
This farmer has a nice piece of property that includes fields and heavy woods with a swamp. There are a lot of crops near by so I hope the bears don't stay in the corn. I put a spot in the middle of the dried up swamp. It is still plenty moist and was hard to dig the 2 foot square whole for the bait. I hope it doesn't rain to much or the whole will fill up. Because of the dampness the bugs were terrible. I hope I can stay still with so many bugs around me.

This spot looks really good. We baited it up with donuts, corn, sunflower seeds, wheat and bread. Poured a gallon of grease and some fish juice around the bait site. I can't wait to come back and check this spot out.

August 12, 2001
Spots been hit! We baited it up again. Heavy logs thrown everywhere. Can't wait until I come back again. Still haven't seen any tracks or scat yet.

This spot has been hit everyday we have checked it. My partner can't wait to hunt it. Tree stand was put up 12 yards away.

Spot was hit hard again. Baited it up. Tracks and droppings everywhere. I sure wish I was going to hunt this spot. It is so hard to stop and ask permission. This is a perfect example why it pays to be persistant!

This spot has only been hunted once. Saw a raccoon but know bears. This spot still looks really good. We will see what happens!!!

August 28, 2001
This spot still looks good but my partner hasn't been able to hunt very much. That is a shame since I know he could harvest a bear on this spot. I might have to go there!

Rats, my partner had some problems that prevented him from hunting this spot. It wasn't hunted but twice I think. What a waste. Bear hunting is serious business and you won't be successful if you don't commit to it. Until next year!
