August 6, 2001 Minnesota spot #4 West of Pine City(private land)
This is a new spot that I lined up by knocking on doors and talking to farmers. There are alot of really nice people out there that are willing to listen. He offered his land to bear hunt on but he had mostly pasture and around 5 acres of woods. He was leasing part of his pasture from a neighbor. He suggested I talk with him.

I finally got a hold of the landowner and he is allowing me to hunt his 80 wooded acres. I will be visiting the spot Friday.

It is getting dark. We are way behind. Stopped and talked with the ajacent landowner. This property doesn't look good. We put our bait in a cow pasture with a swamp at one end. Lots of crops in this area. I don't think this spot will produce anything but yet they have seen bears recently. I hope I can tell the difference between a cow and a bear!

This spot is dead. No sign of bear. We will give it another week and then drop it. We are now down to 5 spots. To bad!!!!

This spot still hasn't been hit since the first time we baited the spot. This is really weird. If a bear hits a spot once he should be back again and again. Ofcourse if there is tons of natural foods then anything goes.

We are dropping this spot. It just didn't pan out. Not enough woods and we baited in the wrong spot. Maybe next year we can do better.
